fightinaggies,

Thanks for your post. Throughout the On-line SCI Record Book, one will find many categories are left blank and without a noted minimum requirement. We have yet to confirm what exactly this means. Our scoring min. tables are duplicated from SCI's very own on-line tables.

As for axis w/ a bow, the mins. (for typicals)are as follows: bronze-108, silver-135&1/8, gold-144&2/8. Of note: All bow mins. are for inclusion in the SCI Bowhunting Record Book; to have your trophy included in the general Record Book, the "standard" minimums must be met regardless of weapon type.
Hope this helps and we will let you know if we find out more about the "blanks". We will also continue to add new minimums as SCI updates them on-line. Thanks for your post.

--AAE

I was wondering what the minimums for free ranging fallow are for broze and silver as well as bronze silver and gold with a bow? I also wanted to know what the minimums for all three medals are with a bow for axis deer? The website just shows dashes for some of them. I saw the gold medal for free ranging fallow but the silver and gold showed just dashes, does that mean there are no silver or bronze medals for that?

Thanks for your input

AAE Admin,

I'm curious, have you found that many of the outfitters you meet and work with are utilizing video taping for their hunts? I have only recently started seeing more outfitters offering this service, but it still seems like a foreign idea for most of these groups. I'm curious what your thoughts are on someone being able to contract with these outfitters to provide video. Do you think there would be an interest as this is something I would like to get involved in.

Thanks.

I have followed AAE on facebook for sometime now, but only recently have I joined the website. I have to agree with Reed2083. Over the years I have tried to research different hunts online for certain exotic game, but it became overwhelming with the many different sites that I had to visit. I truly hope that this site continues to grow. This has the potential to alleviate my previous online frustrations. I will be frequently checking your site for any updates because this site, so far, has been easier to navigate, not to mention, much easier to find what I am looking for.

Reed, axis can and do breed year 'round, though in Texas around 80% of births occur from Jan. - mid April. With a gestation of 7-8 months, and does becoming fertile again soon after giving birth, you can see that the window for harvesting an unbred doe is very slight. In a paper on axis deer by the Comanche Spring Ranch, a harvester of excess animals in the Texas Hill Country reported having never harvested an axis doe that was not pregnant, lactating or both. But to answer your question, one of the only ways to determine whether you are looking at a pregnant female would be to observe her swollen belly in the latter stages of pregnancy. Hope this helps --AAE

So I have a quick question. I understand that some exotic species have different breeding periods throughout the year. I would like to harvest an Axis Doe, but I'm curious to know if there is a proper time to do so. Is there any way to know whether an Axis doe is bred or not??
